Flores del este

Cuando miras las obras de esta exposición, lo primero que te viene a la mente es Oriente. Una tierra lejana, Asia, donde la conexión con la naturaleza siempre ha sido considerada un objeto divino. El conocimiento de los secretos de la flora se consideraba algo especial, ligado a misterios, leyendas y antiguas prácticas curativas. Una conexión con una parte oculta del mundo que hoy parece perdida u olvidada.

Las plantas y flores asiáticas cobran vida a través de la punta del lápiz, moldeadas mediante una técnica de arte chino mixto. Los dibujos hablan un idioma antiguo que entenderás si te concentras en ellos.

Jeunlung es un artista multifacético originario de Kowloon, Hong Kong, que ahora reside en Madrid. Si bien su trabajo diario es el diseño gráfico, como artista es conocido por su gran habilidad para dominar dibujos a lápiz con detalles finos. 

Como artista daltónico, es capaz de representar dibujos en escala de grises, en blanco y negro, con un dominio propio. Su trabajo se basa en gran medida en artes asiáticas inspiradas en su educación en Hong Kong y China, así como en sus extensos viajes y el tiempo que pasó estudiando Bellas Artes en Europa. Su obra retrata las yuxtaposiciones y el equilibrio entre la luz y la oscuridad.

When you look at the works in this exhibition, the first thing that comes to mind is the East. A far away land, Asia, where the connection with nature has always been considered a divine object. The knowledge of the secrets of flora was considered something special, linked to mysteries, legends and ancient healing practises. A connection to a hidden part of the world that seems lost or forgotten today.

Asian plants and flowers are brought to life through the tip of the pencil, shaped by a mixed Chinese art technique. The drawings speak an ancient language that you will understand if you concentrate on them.

Jeunlung is a versatile artist originally from Kowloon, Hong Kong, and now based in Madrid. Although he is a full-time graphic designer, as an artist he is known for his great ability to master finely detailed pencil drawings.

As a colour-blind artist, he is able to render black and white and greyscale drawings with a mastery all his own. His work is heavily influenced by Asian art, inspired by his upbringing in Hong Kong and China, as well as his extensive travels and study of fine art in Europe. His work portrays the juxtaposition and balance between light and darkness.
